In the spirit of Kwanzaa principle number 3 - UJIIMA (Collective Work and Responsibility) which reads: ‘To build and maintain our Community together and make your brothers and sisters problems OUR PROBLEMS and, to solve them together, thank you for considering becoming a Kinte Center Inc. Associate (volunteer) and support our “LABOR OF LOVE” to economically revive and bring jobs and economic opportunity to the area in East Oakland at 55th Avenue east to the Oakland-San Leandro border (The Kinte Center refers to this area as the “CityEast” community).
The Kinte Center is a non-membership organization which means actual membership is limited to members of our Board of Directors. However the Kinte Center does seek volunteers to serve as (1). Volunteers and (2). Advisory Board members. Preferably, Advisory Board members will be professionally certified in areas such as Legal, Medical, and The Trades etc., However professional certification is not a requirement. In addition Board Members come aboard at the invitation of the Executive Director.
NOTE: The Kinte Center has now progressed through its research, planning and plan development stages. We are currently packaging our funding request. Therefore it should be noted that our volunteer needs at this point is support
of our Plan/Programs implementation effort. Thus there is not an opportunity for volunteers or Advisory Board Members to participate in Kinte Center planning. If you find that in spite of the absence of an opportunity to participation in the Kinte Center planning you can serve a Volunteer or an Advisory Board member and help us implement our Plan/Programs your help
will be greatly appreciated.
