The Kinte Center is currently seeking like minded volunteers. The Agenda below is presented a broad outline of the Kinte Center’s Community Based-Community Economic Development agenda for Oakland majority Black communities designed to reduce community by promoting community based businesses to meet the consumer and employment needs in Oakland’s majority Black communities.
1. ESTABLISH A BASE OF BLACK ECONOMIC POWER at 55th Avenue east to the Oakland-San Leandro border (click here to view The Plan)
- EXPAND BLACK OWNERSHIP OF MAJOR RETAIL.
Some suggested areas for consideration are:
(a). Establish a “State of the art” chain of grocery stores to serve
Oakland’s majority black communities.
(b). Establish “Super Car Care” centers that offer full automobile care.
(c). Establish Kidney Dialysis Centers with other medical cared.
(d). Deliver Black ownership of a major hotel in Oakland.
(e). Establish a banking system that meets the banking needs of Oakland’s majority black communities.
(f). Establish Black ownership of retail businesses such as Furniture, Electronics, Clothing, computers etc.
- CREATE A “BRIDGE OUR YOUTH OVER CRIME”- Form a committee, staffed mostly with retired school teachers that will work with community based businesses, community and schools to guide our “At Risk” high school students to gainful employment upon graduation from high school provided they meet certain conditions. This “Conditional Guaranteed Employment” would come about through apprenticeship programs with some vocational certification requirements.
We have the “Know How” among us right here in Oakland along with the ability to find “Out of the box” and unconventional means of financing to accomplish all of the above.
If you feel you are of “Like Mind” and are interested in volunteering to bring the above stated agenda or some modified version thereof to fruition (click here)
