A Kinte Center commentary for the unpublished press release

A Kinte Center commentary-This press release was submitted to the Oakland Post for publication but the post declined to publish it.  It states that the number of Black owned businesses increased by 1258 business or 21.06 percent from the 1997 Economic Census to the 2002 Economic Census.  This is good news for Oakland in light of the decrease in Oakland's Black population.
